Using Goldengate to Replicate Oracle Databases for Fleetcor

Business Pain: Fleetcor had a legacy Oracle database housed in a Mainframe in a data center that had a contract expiring. They had to move the database contents to AWS before the contract terminated.

How we fixed it: Two Ec2 instances were created with static private IP addresses to adhere to Fleetcor’s firewall policies. These instances were configured to be a redundant pair (hot + warm) of GoldenGate servers facilitating the database ingestion. For the time being, this will be a bi-directional configuration as data is read and written to the RDS instance back and forth to the Mainframe.
